1415 Folsom
San Francisco, CA
The Western SOMA Light Industrial and Residential Historic District is characterized by a broad variety of buildings types, from warehouses to Victorian residences. A prominent characteristic of many of them are gridded steel windows as dominant elements of the facades. 1415 Folsom aims to merge the industrial and residential imagery in a contemporary form – the proportions of the façade are scaled up Victorian, the texture of the detail, gridded and industrial. The demographic of Western SOMA are now millennial tech workers with sophisticated urban taste, and the units are designed as contemporary urban homes that have the characteristics of the modern masterworks designed for leisure in the country, now imported to the city as apartments.
