1220 H Street
Sacramento, CA
The site is in downtown Sacramento.
The Civic Architecture which defines the context is crowned by the Capitol Building with its classical white columnar facades which inspired grand Victorians, neo-classical, and later modern buildings. These are the foundation for this project.
The simple rectangular form is wrapped by a lattice porch of continuous outdoor balconies where the building spills out, shading the interior.
The ground floor is parking off an alley with a frontage of offices on H Street. Above are six levels of housing around a double-loaded corridor with two bedroom units at the corners and I bedroom units between.
