In the grassy hills of Lafayette, bridging a valley, a concrete courtyard house with green roofs peeks out of the landscape.

Parking is in the valley below, with the entrance path continuing above. At the end of a long gallery edging the court, the living, kitchen, dining and outdoor kitchen wing, all open out to the view beyond. A pool, filling the valley, floats outside the deep colonnade on a parallel deck.

Parents and children’s wings flank either side of the living area, with a guest suite above the garage as the fourth bar containing the court.

Life and views are both into the central family court and expanding out in four directions to the landscapes beyond.

The materials of the house are non-combustible poured in place concrete and glass.
